I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and School of Urban Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Memphis.
I study urban and local politics, local institutions such as policing and city councils, public policy processes, and policy agendas. I am interested in how local governments make decisions, how policies get made at the local level, and how grassroots organizations influence local governments to get their interests on the agenda.
I received my PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in 2022, and I am a faculty associate with the Policy Agendas Project.
Outside of political science, I am passionate about collecting records, riding my bicycle around town, and spending time with my animals: my dog Mr. Chicken, my cat Desmond, and an assorted cast of foster dogs with Happy Tails Canine Rescue.
